Well we have 2 options. You can do an in office whitening and that is for really really stubborn dark teeth. You know, some of the ones that you just apply on from the drugstore they do okay but they only last for a couple of months. When you've got a really dark deep seeded stain you need a little more intense bleaching. It will bring that shade up oh 5, 6 shades in almost immediately. If we do a take home bleach, which I really believe is probably the better for most patients, they have a little tray, they put the bleaching material in, they wear it for an hour, 2 hours a day. Within a week or 2 their teeth get lighter and lighter and lighter. I think it's easier on their nerves of their teeth in general, I think they get time to process the teeth getting whiter as well.
You can do 1 arch or both, so you can whiten your upper teeth and you can notice the difference from the lower teeth or you can do them both at the same time and just get them nice and white. Usually it will work, there are some people who I don't care what we bleach we can't get them Chiclet white and we're not always going to get them Chiclet white but we are going to get them about 5 shades more. That you're not going to get from a bleach strip.

I don't think those drug store options are necessarily all that bad. I think the materials that are used are very similar. What I noticed though is with time is that people want something a little bit better. The trays, we do the traditional tray bleaching that you probably have heard about. Most people have heard about.
