You're having a hard time chewing. Is it because you're in pain? Is it because you're missing teeth? Is it because things are out of alignment? Teeth are not fitting right. If your teeth aren't fitting right we have orthodontics we can straighten them and get them into the proper alignment. If your bite's not right, if every time you bite and it's hurting in your jaw joint, we can adjust the bite to get things to fit better. If you're missing teeth, well one of the more important things that one can do is restore it back to a natural way. That would be my doing an implant. It's just like having a real tooth again. You don't have to take it in and out. It can be a much easier process for you to be able to chew.
If you're in pain it's a different story, we've got to figure out why you're in pain. Do you have decay in your tooth? Do you have an abscess? Something that we need to deal with. We have many different options for that. We can do a filling, we can do a sedative feeling, we can put a crown on a tooth, we can do a root canal if you are in real pain. If it's not something that can be restored, we can remove the tooth and again then we would put an implant in it's place. We have many options to be able to help you if you're having problems chewing.
Meal time is something you should be able to look forward to, but if you are dealing with tooth pain or a painful bite, you may dread it instead. Get the help you need at S&G Family Dentistry and say goodbye to your chewing worries for good.
Chewing Your Food Shouldn’t Be a Chore
When you have problems chewing your food, it can throw off your whole day. You’re hungry, and then you’re in pain as you try to quell that hunger. It’s enough to make anyone a little unhappy. Here are some treatments that may help you get past your chewing difficulties and back to enjoying your meals pain-free.
- Tooth Extraction – Many times you feel pain while you are eating because of a tooth issue. Some issues are able to be taken care of by other methods. For example, if your tooth is cracked or otherwise damaged, we can restore it with a dental crown. But if you do not seek help and the pain persists, you may need to have your tooth removed. Dr. Schopper or one of our other dentists can safely extract your tooth here in our office. If the case is complicated, we will refer you to one of our trusted partners to make sure you get the level of care you need. S&G Family Dentistry will be there to help you get past losing a tooth from your smile and replacing it with a new one.
- Root Canal Treatment – One treatment that can save your real tooth and give you relief from tooth pain is root canal treatment. Now, do not believe everything that you hear about this treatment. A root canal is not the terribly painful procedure you may have been led to believe. A root canal is actually no more painful than having your tooth filled after a cavity. In fact, many times the nerve in your tooth is already dead, so you wouldn’t feel anything even without the numbing agent we apply.
- TMJ Solutions – Your pain may not have anything to do with your teeth. TMJ refers to disorders that occur within the joint that connects your jaw to the rest of your skull. Some symptoms of TMJ disorder can be mistaken for other issues. One symptom is tooth pain. Another symptom is pain or soreness when you move your jaw. Headaches are also common. Whatever your symptoms may be, S&G Family Dentistry is here to help you figure out how to get your jaw back to normal and you back to enjoying meal time.
